Responding
Based in the community, we are often able to reach patients prior to the arrival of the nearest available ambulance resource allowing treatment to commence as quickly as possible. This rapid response can improve the outcome for a critically ill patients such as those in cardiac arrest.
Typical emergencies attended by our responders include:
- Breathing difficulties
- Heart attacks
- Strokes
- Diabetic emergencies
- Traumatic emergencies
- Cardiac Arrest
- Seizures
Basic Life Support
We deliver Basic Life Support awareness courses aimed at teaching simple and effective emergency first aid skills to members of the public in as little as 2 hours. Topics covered include:
- Help the unconscious casualty
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- How to use an Aautomated External Defibrillator (AED)
Public Access Defibrillator Management
PCFR look after and maintain eight Public Access Defibrillators within the EH26 community. Over the years that these valuable pieces of kit have been deployed by the Scottish Ambulance Service on numerous occasions (32 times up to 2023) to either provide lifesaving intervention or be on hand where the possibility that the patient going into cardiac arrest is imminent.
All Public
Access Defibrillators purchased, installed and maintained by PCFR are registered
with The Circuit. The Circuit is a national defibrillator network, which provides the NHS
ambulance services with vital information about defibrillators across the UK so
that in those crucial moments after a cardiac arrest, they can be accessed
quickly to help save lives.
